The last party The Plastic Revolution played at San Diego State University went something like this: over a thousand people gathered to see a local pop-punk/electronica band described by a group of sorority girls as, “Like a mixture of The Muse, My Chemical Romance, Panic At The Disco, and The Used, with better lyrics…” After seven kegs and nine hundred beers, the two bedroom guesthouse collapsed under the mountain of people standing on it; during which time the band didn’t even notice or stop playing until the police stormed into the backyard from all angles.
The Plastic Revolution has an alternative, pop sound with emotional lyrics, edgy, grimy guitar, and a strong percussion. Their new album Postmodern Medicine features the perfect alliance of lyrics and fast-paced, catchy sounds that are raw and deep with feeling. The album took over four years to master, but was definitely well worth the wait.
The Plastic Revolution has performed all over the world, but is based in San Diego, CA. Current band members are Jake Skolnick, Nick Brownlee, and Max Weiss. In the summer of 2012, the band will tour with bassist Eddie Phanichkul and promote their new album Postmodern Medicine across the US and Europe.
The Frets are a 4-piece rock band based out of Southern California. Although they call San Diego home, The Frets punchy rock sound showcases British lead singer, Liam Wilkes’, Manchester (UK) roots. His edgy vocals along with lead guitarist, Cody Seeger, driving guitar riffs and Drummer John Martinez’s technical and massive chops- give the band a standout sound.
The Frets unique style pulls from influences of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Catfish & the Bottlemen, The 1975, The Technicolors and other British rock bands. The 4-piece rockers are set to release their debut EP “BLUR” - Produced by Grammy nominated Billy Smiley - in the Summer of 2018.
The Frets are comprised of founding members Cody Seeger and Liam Wilkes who met via the reliable world of Craigslist- while trying out for another local band. When the two discovered they had a similar musical vision - they broke off and released a EP under the name “Lad’s Holiday”. After rotating through several drummers, they approached talented Jazz drummer, John Martinez, on social media. Bassist Skyler Lutes completes the 4 piece lineup. The 4 have been playing together now for a year and a half.
The 4-piece have their sights on a late 2018 tour and a full length debut Album to drop in the near future.
San Diego based, six-piece alternative rock band has its origins in the Pacific Beach party scene. Having met at a house party on Cinco de Mayo in 2017, the group got busy fast and lo-fi garage recordings of their early work surfaced only a few months later.
After compiling weeks worth of long-haul improvisational sessions, the members combed through hours of material for tag-lines, poetic verses, droning rhythms and powerful hooks. Attempts to “recreate” these fragments led to the subsequent birth of “Live in the Garage-Mahal”.
The 5 track EP has layers of surfy, vintage vibes. Cut up by lo-fi fuzz tones, psyche-out solos, poppy hooks and spooky delay effects, the self-produced and recorded debut fueled the groups ambitions. The follow up 3 track release “Headphone Jams” are choice raw recordings of the same sessions.
MDRN HSTRY is currently recording their first full length record geared for release in June of 2018.
Coral Bells is a indie folk & roll tribe of Southern California beach dwellers specializing in Sixties nostalgic covers & whiskey written originals.
