Hailing from Colombia, BALTHVS is a three-piece psychedelic funk rock band creating groove-driven, atmospheric music that draws from global influences. Their sound fuses the spirit of 70s psychedelia with funk, Latin rhythms, and ambient texture. Inspired by artists like Santana, Gábor Szabó, Khruangbin, Thievery Corporation, and The Grateful Dead, BALTHVS create music that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking — a guitar-driven psychedelic funk rock experience that is unmistakably their own.
At the centre of the band is Balthazar Aguiree, a self-taught musician whose path to music was anything but ordinary. While studying law and working as a mountain guide, a 24-foot fall during a climbing accident forced him to reassess everything. That near-death moment became a turning point — music wasn’t just a passion; it became his life’s purpose.
The band came to fruition when bassist Vanessa Muñoz and drummer Santiago Lizcano were brought into the world. Similar to Balthazar, Vanessa learned to play bass independently and effortlessly was able to transform her love of music into playing it live. Santiago, a drummer who also shared a love of psychedelic sounds, brought his own spin and Colombian influence to create the rhythmic soul of the band. After forming BALTHVS in 2019, the band has maintained a clear vision: to make immersive, groove-forward music that blurs boundaries while staying rooted in live instrumentation and spontaneous energy.
Their prolific output — including four studio albums and dozens of singles — is both a creative drive and a deliberate strategy. Balthazar often records alone from his home studio, capturing full songs in a single take. For their fourth album, Harvest, the trio engaged in a fully collaborative, month-long residency, writing and recording together from start to finish. The result is their most cohesive and immersive work to date — a testament to their ability to evolve artistically while staying true to their psychedelic foundations.

Beyond the studio, BALTHVS is committed to the live tradition of creating a new setlist for every night — a testament to their improvisational spirit and deep respect for the audience. Whether in Colombia or on tour abroad, their performances are intimate, engaging, and never twice the same.
In a landscape dominated by trends, BALTHVS offers something timeless. With a clear artistic identity, a loyal and growing fanbase, and a relentless commitment to creativity, they are carving out a unique space in the global psychedelic and indie funk scenes — one track, and one show, at a time.
