James Bishop
James Bishop spent five months hiking through the California backcountry, amassing a cache of iPhone recordings along the way. He spent the following five years turning those samples into his debut album, BODYBOUND, working out of an abandoned schoolhouse modular on a farm outside San Francisco.
There are no studio instruments on BODYBOUND. Instead, thunderstorms become synthesizers, rustling pinecones become drums, and an orchestra emerges from a chorus of creaking iron gates. Bishop's live performances are a spellbinding audiovisual experience — rendering his trail songs to their fullest ambition.
