    Four bands, chosen by YOU, will head to the BOTB at Music Box on either July 11th or August 1st to perform and compete for a chance to play at Same Same But Different Festival!
     
    -Voting by the public runs from June 18th until end June 25th.

    -The top 4 artists for SD in each category (BANDS/BASS) - with the most fan votes will be announced on June 26th, and continue on to either Battle of the Bands on July 11th or Battle of the Bass on August 1st.

    -The winners of each battle will perform at Same Same but Different Festival

  • Virginia Crime

     Virginia Crime" is a fresh band hailing from San Diego, California, aiming to carve a unique niche in the Southern California music scene. Drawing inspiration from the raw energy of 90's alternative rock, particularly the ethos of Touch and Go Label, their debut single "Left 5," released on February 23, 2024, marks the beginning of their musical journey. VA Crime is a blend of nostalgic influences with a modern twist, bringing a fresh perspective to the scene. Their raw energy live combined with contemporary sound promises an exciting trajectory for this up-and-coming band, signaling a promising start to their new venture.

  • Three Legged Dog

     Born by the beaches of San Diego, Three Legged Dog plays music that makes you want to have fun. Whether it's cracking a beer, lighting a spliff, or hanging at the beach, their tunes always pair well with a good time.Three Legged Dog is composed of James Burns, Mikey Threet, and George Thomas. Trading instruments on stage and in the studio, they blur the lines between surf, punk, and alternative styles of rock n roll.Ask anyone in-the-know and they'll tell you, "nobody barks like Three Legged Dog".

  • Tide-Eye

     Having made their debut in 2019, psychedelic rock trio Tide-Eye now comprises Danny Lyons on guitar, Cannan Doty on drums, and Tim Higgs on bass. Together, the band offers a unique blend of old-school and new-school psychedelia that makes them distinct from the rest of Los Angeles’ prodigious rock scene.

    Tide-Eye’s sound can best be described as rhythmic and deeply expressive. Fans of reverb, cosmic walls of sound, and false endings that build toward explosive guitar solos have found a home with Tide-Eye's discography, as evidenced by the large energetic crowds they draw to venues surrounding LA, and while busking on the Venice Beach Boardwalk's "New Hippie Hill." Their most recent album, YOUR THIRD EYE, embodies this in form and impact.

    Now, Tide-Eye sets their sights on their most ambitious project yet: Zodiac, a 12-track double-LP with each song being released monthly in line with the 2024-2025 astrological calendar. The band is branching out stylistically as they take inspiration from jazz, progressive rock, modal funk, and metal while still staying true to the blues-forward psychedelic rock at the core of their process.
