VENUE INFO (Sound & Tech)

Hi there! We are looking forward to having you perform at the Music Box in downtown San Diego's historic Little Italy. On this page you will find all the pertinent venue information, including tech specs, house backline and contact information.

To ensure that you have a great show please go over all the information below. You may also contact our production manager to properly advance your upcoming show. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We promise to do all we can to make sure you have a wonderful show!

  • LOADERS/HANDS
  • Music Box does not have stagehands/loaders on staff. Our A1 and an A2 can assist. If additional loaders/stagehands are necessary for your show, it must be in agreed to in contract/show budget and arranged with production at least 72 hours in advance
  • Load in/out front of venue on India Street between A Street & Ash Street. Park in the 20 minute 'yellow' loading zone in front of our entrance. PLEASE NOTE: this is for loading and unloading only and we ask that you be considerate of our neighbors re: noise and please- no smoking or drinking while loading in/out.
  • SOUNDCHECK TIMES:
  • Please note that due to issues with our upstairs neighbors, soundchecks are not to begin before 5pm, Monday thru Friday.
  • Saturdays and Sundays soundcheck can begin anytime.

PARKING

  • BUSES & TRUCKS:
  • Unfortunately, The Music Box does not offer bus parking or shore power. If absolutely necessary, we can often creatively cone-off parking in the loading zone in front of club or behind the venue on Columbia Street. However- those areas are 1st come, 1st served public spaces and not guaranteed. Please coordinate with production staff as you arrive.
  • If no options are available, we will double park your vehicle for load-in and it may be necessary to park elsewhere during the show. Post-show the streets are much more clear, making it very easy to pull-up in front of venue for load-out. We realize this is a far from ideal scenario- our deepest apologies for the hassle.
  • CARS/PRIVATE VEHICLES:
  • There are multiple paid parking lots all around the venue and plenty of evening street parking. Street parking is metered until 6pm.
  • MERCHANDISE
  • The merchandise area is in our lobby near the venue's front doors. Artist sells. A six-foot table and power is available- please bring your own lights/hangars/power strips/display racks. Music Box can provide a merchandise sales person for $75 if necessary, however, the request must be made at least 72 hours in advance. Please advance with Production Manager.
  • IN-HOUSE HOSPITALITY
  • All artist hospitality is provided per advance and per contract/agreement.
  • Please contact matt@musicboxsd.com regarding your contracted/agreed hospitality needs WELL IN ADVANCE of your show.
  • GREEN ROOM / VIP ROOM
  • Green Room with wet bar, fridge, make-up mirrors, couches, chairs & toilet/shower
  • Auxiliary space along hallway area with restroom
